Most golf courses have trolley you can borrow for free or rent. But they are usually of poor quality, and of course on a busy day you can not be certain there will be one spare.

When it comes to buying your own trolley there are two main options, a push trolley which is by far the most common and cheapest option, or a motorised trolley.

Most people will be content with the push trolley, but for those with mobility problems a motorised trolley can help take away all the effort of transporting your golf bag around a course. Below is an example of a motorised trolley,

The style and weight of motorised caddies has come along way since their inception, this model only weighs 16.7lbs because it's frame is made from an aerospace grade aluminum. The motor is also discreetly small, and apart from the gentle whirl of the motor you would be hard pressed to distinguish it from a average push cart.

As you have probably already worked out 99.9% of carts feature a three wheeled design. The frame of most is made from aluminum, because it's a strong metal which is also light and does not rust easily. Below is a list of features it's worth looking out for when buying a new cart,

- A hand brake which can slow your cart if you have happen to be free wheeling down a steep hill. A runaway golf cart can be hilarious, but rarely is for the owner.

- A pump for the tyres should they deflate over time.

- A storage area near the handle to place your score card, pencil tee and golf balls.

- Adjustable brackets to fit varying sizes of golf bags.

- Compact folding.

- Height adjustment.
